Sandra Schmidt is an AMI Certified Montessori teacher, holding 2 diplomas: 3-6, and 6-12 year olds. Sandy is presently the Head of School at the Montessori Academy of Upland, California, where she teaches the elementary class, directs staff in-service training, curriculum development, and trains teachers in the Montessori Method of Education through the Montessori Teachers Training Academy (MTTA). She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan and has worked toward a Doctorate from the University of California Riverside.
Sandy's History with the Academy dates back to 1968 when she brought her children to the Academy, then in Claremont, California. Sandy bought the schoool and was the inspiration for its success for 40 years. Her passion is to give the best possible education to children and their parents. She coordinates the Montessori Administrative Council in Southern California (MAC) and is dedicated to the improvement of education standards in all of California.
