Infant and Toddler Community

The Infant and Toddler Community provides an enriched experience in language and cultural material. Introduction to all topics of study with a focus on development of motor skills, order, classification, and self-awareness. The keynotes in this class are the development of independence, self-confidence, and concentration.

The children of the Toddler Community are engaged in their classroom by real life activities, using child-sized materials (such as plates, glasses, silverware, etc) that foster their emerging independence. The toddler environment is designed to honor a young child’s natural need for movement, “sensory experience”, and meaningful work.

The Children's House program has five main areas: practical life, sensorial, language, math, and cultural extensions. The emphasis is on children learning to be independent in their most immediate worlds, their classrooms, and their homes. Physical education, arts and crafts, music, performing arts, outdoor play and an introduction to foreign language are included in the program.
